One of the activities that the club runs for its members is a points competition, where club members can win trophies based on their show results from NZKC Championship Shows. This competition is open to all club members, and is very popular! The list of winners for each year is published in the March issue of the club magazine “Pawprint”, based on the show results received by the the Points Co-ordinator(s).
Sheets for members to tabulate their Sheltie's show results for sending in to the competition are published in “Pawprint”, and the template is also available for download from this site. (The sheet is in .RTF format which can be opened by most wordprocessors such as MS Word or OpenOffice.) An example of how the points sheet may be completed is here.
Until recently a manual system has been used to tabulate the points, but from 2003 the club has been running a new computerised points database for recording the competition results. All wins as per the results in the club magazine “Pawprint” over the year are entered into the points database, but if anyone doubts their correctness or has anything different, they should send in their points sheets so that their Sheltie can have their wins recorded correctly!
The competition year runs from January through to December.
Eligible shows for competition points are Championship Shows held in the lower North Island of New Zealand, south of Latitude 39 degrees South (an East-West line approximately level with New Plymouth).
Competition points can be earned by CSSC members at the annual National NZ Kennel Club Show, irrespective of whether the location of the show is in the CSSC area. National Shows held outside of the CSSC area are deemed to be eligible for competition points.
